Accessories for the Kawasaki VN1700 Classic

The Kawasaki VN1700 Classic is a cruiser suited to unhurried road riding, from weekend outings to longer trips. Choosing accessories for this kind of bike starts with how you spend your time in the saddle. Your reach to the bars, exposure to the wind and the manoeuvres involved in everyday parking all influence what is worth fitting.

What riders usually fit to the Kawasaki VN1700 Classic

• Handlebars: a different bar can alter your reach to the grips and the position of your arms. For relaxed afternoons on country roads, a natural riding position deserves as much attention as the look of the bars, particularly when you start spending longer between stops.
• Screens: help deflect airflow away from the rider on open roads. They make particular sense when your VN1700 Classic is used for longer outings rather than short local rides, where sustained wind exposure is less of a consideration.
• Protectors: help limit damage to the areas they cover if the bike tips over at a standstill. If your cruiser also handles trips into town, they are worth considering for frequent parking manoeuvres and negotiating tight spaces between road rides.
• Mirrors: bring together cruiser styling and a useful view of following traffic. When mixing country roads with urban riding, mirror position matters: you want to see past your arms without repeatedly shifting away from your normal position on the bike.
