Accessories for the Kawasaki Z1000R

The Kawasaki Z1000R is a sporty naked bike suited to winding roads and weekend rides, with everyday journeys also part of the picture. Choosing accessories is less about adding everything and more about addressing how you ride: managing wind exposure on longer stretches, getting comfortable at the controls and protecting exposed areas against minor mishaps.

What riders usually fit to the Kawasaki Z1000R

• Screens: wind exposure is part of riding a naked Z1000R, particularly when a favourite back-road route involves motorway miles. A screen can redirect some of the airflow reaching your upper body, making it a useful consideration for regular open-road riding rather than short urban trips alone.
• Protectors: worth considering for a bike that sees both weekend outings and everyday parking manoeuvres. They can help limit damage to the areas they cover in minor knocks or falls, keeping the focus on looking after the Z1000R rather than adding touring luggage.
• Handlebars and levers: these shape how you sit and interact with the bike. A comfortable reach matters when steering through a series of bends, while the relationship between your hands and the controls becomes just as noticeable with repeated clutch and brake use around town.
• Footrests: where your feet sit affects your overall riding position on this sporty naked. They deserve attention if you want to move naturally through corners without making the connecting miles uncomfortable, especially when a short ride regularly turns into a longer day out.
• Number plate holders: an option for refining the rear-end appearance, which stands out on a naked bike. This is primarily a styling choice for riders who want a neater-looking tail, rather than a change aimed at improving comfort on longer journeys.

For a Z1000R used throughout the week as well as at weekends, address wind exposure and riding position first. Styling changes can follow once the bike feels comfortable on your usual routes.
