Accessories for the Kawasaki Z1000 R Edition

Twisty-road rides and weekday journeys ask different things of the Kawasaki Z1000 R Edition. As a sporty naked, it lends itself to accessories that help manage wind exposure, make the riding position more comfortable and protect exposed areas. A useful starting point is how you ride it: short urban trips put the emphasis on different parts from longer days out on open roads.

What riders usually fit to the Kawasaki Z1000 R Edition

• Screens: A screen helps divert some of the airflow away from your upper body. That matters on a naked when reaching your favourite bends involves a motorway stretch, or when a short Sunday ride turns into a longer outing.
• Protectors: These can help limit damage to the areas they cover in a fall. For a Z1000 R Edition that also handles commuting duties, protection is worth considering for low-speed mishaps while manoeuvring around parking spaces and busy urban surroundings.
• Handlebars and levers: These parts let you tailor the control area to your riding position. Switching between stop-start traffic and flowing country roads makes wrist comfort and a comfortable reach to the brake and clutch levers particularly relevant.
• Footrests: Where your feet sit affects leg position as well as support when riding through a sequence of bends. Alongside the handlebars, footrests deserve attention when setting up this sporty naked for both winding roads and longer stretches in the saddle.
• Number plate holders: An option for changing the appearance of the rear end and emphasising the bike’s sporty naked style. Their role is mainly visual, rather than addressing wind exposure or the way you sit and operate the controls.

Regular motorway miles make wind protection a stronger priority. If most journeys stay in town, comfortable controls and protection against minor mishaps are likely to be more useful starting points.
