Accessories for the Kawasaki Zephyr 550

The Kawasaki Zephyr 550 is a classic-style naked suited to weekday journeys and unhurried rides on open roads. Those uses place different demands on the rider: town riding involves frequent manoeuvres, while longer outings make wind exposure and riding position more noticeable. The most useful additions make those journeys easier while keeping its classic character.

What riders usually fit to the Kawasaki Zephyr 550

• Handlebars: on a Zephyr used for both commuting and weekend rides, bar choice is about where your hands sit and how far you reach. It can change your upper-body position, so consider the balance between a comfortable reach when manoeuvring in town and a relaxed posture over longer distances.
• Screens: a screen makes particular sense when your rides extend beyond town onto faster roads, helping to reduce the airflow reaching your upper body. For this classic naked, screen height also affects how much shelter you gain and how prominent the screen looks against the lines of the bike.
• Protection: frequent parking and low-speed manoeuvres are part of using the Zephyr around town. Protective accessories can help limit damage in a minor fall, making them a practical addition for a bike that sees regular urban use rather than only coming out for occasional sunny-day outings.
• Mirrors: clear rearward vision matters when changing lanes in urban traffic and when preparing to overtake on country roads. On the Zephyr, consider mirrors alongside your handlebar position: their placement needs to give you a useful view behind rather than one dominated by your arms.
