Accessories for the KTM 85 SX

The KTM 85 SX is a motocross bike built for riding off road. On a dirt track, ruts, bumps and jumps make different demands from those of everyday road riding. That shapes which accessories are useful: protection matters while the bike is being ridden, suspension matters over uneven ground, and a secure place to rest the bike matters between sessions. Thinking about both track time and time in the paddock helps you focus on parts that suit how this bike is used.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 85 SX

• Protectors: dirt, stones and the occasional fall are familiar parts of motocross riding. Protectors help shield exposed areas when the 85 SX is being used on a track, particularly where loose ground and ruts bring the bike close to flying debris. They are a practical starting point if your riding regularly takes you onto rougher surfaces.
• Suspension: bumps, jump landings and quick changes of direction all affect how a motocross bike feels beneath its rider. Suspension parts are worth considering when you want to focus on the way the 85 SX responds to a particular rider and track. Öhlins is among the accessory brands available for this model.
• Stands and supports: the bike needs attention off the track as well as on it. A stable support makes it easier to clean the 85 SX, look over its wheels or work on it between rides. It is also useful when the bike is waiting in the paddock for the next session.

For this bike, it makes sense to weigh up riding needs and paddock routines together. That keeps the emphasis on equipment you will actually use, rather than adding parts with little relevance to motocross.
