Accessories for the Suzuki GS500F

The Suzuki GS500F is a faired road bike suited to weekday commuting as well as weekend rides. Equipping it for that mix is about more than appearance: wind protection matters on faster roads, while a comfortable riding position makes longer journeys easier to settle into. For regular town use, protection against minor mishaps also deserves attention.

What riders usually fit to the Suzuki GS500F

• Screens: worth considering if your commute includes motorway miles or your weekends involve longer road rides. A screen helps redirect airflow, with its shape affecting the shelter you feel according to your height and how you sit on the GS500F.
• Crash protection: intended to help limit damage if the bike tips over or falls at low speed. On a faired machine used for everyday transport, this is particularly relevant when parking or manoeuvring through a tight space rather than riding on the open road.
• Handlebars: a way to tailor your reach and arm position to the journeys you make. A GS500F used for both commuting and weekend outings benefits from a riding position that avoids an excessive stretch and remains comfortable as the miles build.
• Mirrors: rearward visibility is a priority when your route switches between busy streets and faster roads. For an everyday GS500F, a useful view of following traffic is more valuable during lane changes than choosing the smallest mirrors purely for their looks.
• Fasteners: useful for replacing deteriorated fixings and tidying the visible finish of a regularly ridden GS500F. When refreshing its exterior, paying attention to these smaller details helps avoid leaving tired-looking fasteners alongside the parts you have just replaced.

For longer journeys, start with airflow and riding position. If most of your mileage is around town, focus first on protection and a clear view behind.
