Accessories for the Suzuki VL800 Volusia

The Suzuki VL800 Volusia is a classic-style cruiser suited to unhurried rides, country-road outings and relaxed weekends away. Accessories make most sense here when they support the way you sit on the bike and the roads you use. Riding across town puts the emphasis on steering comfort and rearward visibility; longer stretches on open roads make wind protection more relevant.

What riders usually fit to the Suzuki VL800 Volusia

• Handlebars: bar height and shape affect your reach to the controls and the angle of your upper body. For the Volusia's laid-back style of riding, the aim is a comfortable arm position that still lets you steer easily through tighter town streets and manoeuvre into parking spaces.
• Windscreens: a screen helps redirect airflow away from your upper body during longer road rides. On a cruiser used for leisurely days out, that can make prolonged exposure to the wind less tiring. Screen height also matters if you prefer a clear view over the top.
• Mirrors: these can change the look of the Volusia while keeping rearward visibility central to the choice. If your rides include urban traffic as well as open roads, a useful view past your arms is particularly valuable when preparing to turn or change lanes.
• Protectors: protection is worth considering for the low-speed side of cruiser ownership, from parking to moving the bike by hand. Protectors help shield the areas they cover from minor knocks, making them a practical addition to a Volusia used around town as well as for weekend rides.

For mainly local rides, focus on your reach to the bars and your view behind. If your Volusia spends more time on open roads, give the windscreen greater priority.
