Accessories for the Yamaha FZR1000

The Yamaha FZR1000 is a sports bike, but an afternoon on twisty roads and a weekend away call for different accessories. How long you spend in the saddle, the riding position you want and the amount you need to carry all help determine which changes are worth making. The aim is to prepare it for the riding you actually do.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha FZR1000

• Handlebars: Hand position is an important part of how you sit on a sports bike like the FZR1000. Handlebar options are worth considering when your riding mixes shorter outings on winding roads with longer journeys, and you want to rethink your position at the controls.
• Protectors: These can help limit damage if the bike falls. They make sense on an FZR1000 used for leisure rides on country roads, but also deserve attention if you take it through town, where stopping, parking and low-speed manoeuvres are more frequent.
• Exhausts: An exhaust contributes to the appearance of a sports bike as well as serving a mechanical purpose. For an FZR1000 used on road rides, it offers a way to personalise the bike visually rather than focusing every change on riding position or carrying capacity.
• Luggage: Taking the FZR1000 away for several days means finding room for more than your everyday essentials. Luggage lets the bike carry your belongings instead of relying entirely on a rucksack, which is particularly useful on routes involving long distances and overnight stops.

For shorter rides, start with riding position and protection. For weekends away, make carrying your kit part of the plan from the outset.
