Accessories for the Yamaha SCR950

The Yamaha SCR950 brings scrambler character to everyday journeys and relaxed road rides. Choosing accessories for it is about balancing comfort and protection with that distinctive style. A week of urban commuting puts different demands on your setup from a long weekend ride along winding roads, so it makes sense to start with how you actually use the bike.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha SCR950

• Screens: worth considering when your routes include faster roads or longer stretches between stops. A screen can divert some airflow away from your upper body. On the SCR950, the balance is between useful wind coverage and keeping the screen visually in proportion with its scrambler styling.
• Protection: a practical addition for daily riding that involves parking and low-speed manoeuvres. Depending on the area covered, protective parts can help limit damage from a stationary or slow-speed fall. They need not be part of an off-road-focused build to earn their place on this Yamaha.
• Footrests: give you scope to adapt the support beneath your feet. That becomes more noticeable when a short ride turns into an afternoon on back roads. For the SCR950’s relaxed road use, comfortable footing should work with your overall riding position.
• Handlebars: influence the position of your arms and back. For a mix of town riding and winding roads, changes here should support both manageable low-speed control and a comfortable reach over longer distances, rather than prioritising appearance alone.
• Mirrors: can complement the scrambler look while providing a useful view behind. Frequent lane changes in urban traffic make positioning particularly important: your arms should not obscure most of the view when you are sitting in your normal riding position.

For mainly urban use, start with riding position and protection. If longer road rides feature more often, wind coverage deserves greater attention alongside comfortable support for your hands and feet.
