Accessories for the Yamaha SR500

The Yamaha SR500 is a classic roadster suited to everyday town riding and unhurried outings on country roads. Those uses give you a useful starting point when choosing accessories: managing wind on longer rides, keeping track of surrounding traffic and adding protection for daily use. Rather than changing the bike's character, the aim is to make the journeys you already enjoy more comfortable and practical.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha SR500

Puig is among the accessory brands available for the SR500. These three accessory types address different parts of life with a classic road bike:

• Screens. A screen helps redirect some of the airflow away from your upper body when a short outing turns into a longer country-road ride. On an SR500 used for relaxed weekend trips, that makes wind protection a comfort consideration rather than part of a move towards a sportier setup.
• Mirrors. Town riding means keeping an eye on traffic behind before changing lanes or turning. Mirrors also contribute to the SR500's classic appearance, so a useful rearward view from your riding position matters alongside the overall look. Their role is particularly noticeable when your route mixes busy streets with quieter roads.
• Protectors. Daily errands bring parking manoeuvres, frequent stops and low-speed handling into the picture. Protectors help limit damage to the areas they cover during minor knocks or falls. For an SR500 used around town throughout the week, this is a practical priority alongside comfort on longer weekend rides.

For an SR500 that spends most of its time on open roads, start with wind protection. If your riding is mainly urban, give mirrors and protection more attention before focusing on longer-distance comfort.
