Accessories for the Yamaha XJ600S Diversion

The Yamaha XJ600S Diversion is a practical road bike with a touring focus, suited to the weekday commute as well as a weekend away. Accessories make most sense when they support that balance: a comfortable reach to the bars for longer journeys, useful rearward vision in traffic and protection for everyday manoeuvres. Start with where you spend your riding time rather than treating every addition as equally important.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha XJ600S Diversion

• Handlebars: a change of bar can alter your hand position and reach. On a Diversion used for both commuting and longer rides, the aim is a natural riding position that works when steering through slow traffic without leaving your arms awkwardly stretched on an open-road run.
• Mirrors: clear rearward vision matters when joining faster roads, changing lanes or preparing to overtake. For a bike doing town and country duty, prioritise the view you get from your normal riding position rather than choosing purely to change its appearance.
• Crash bungs and crash bars: these can help limit damage from a stationary drop or low-speed fall. They are particularly relevant when daily use means pushing the Diversion out of a garage, turning in confined parking spaces or manoeuvring during a trip with a pillion.
• Protectors: these provide more targeted coverage for the areas they cover. On a Diversion that clocks up regular commuting journeys as well as weekend miles, localised protection can address rubbing and everyday wear, complementing accessories intended to help with the consequences of a drop.

A mixed commute-and-touring setup need not be complicated. Give attention to the riding position you maintain for hours, alongside the visibility and protection that matter during frequent stops and starts.
