Accessories for the Yamaha XV535 Virago

The Yamaha XV535 Virago is a cruiser for relaxed road rides and everyday trips around town. How you use yours helps set the priorities: wind protection for longer outings, a clear view behind in traffic and a comfortable reach to the bars. Its custom styling also makes the shape of visible accessories worth considering.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha XV535 Virago

• Mirrors: town riding means keeping track of traffic behind you before moving out or changing lanes. Mirrors also stand out on the Virago's handlebars, so their shape plays a part in the bike's appearance as well as the view they provide behind you.
• Screens: on open-road outings, a screen helps deflect airflow away from your upper body. It makes more sense for a Virago used for longer rides than one limited to short urban trips, where wind exposure is less of a priority.
• Protectors: for a Virago used on daily town journeys, parking manoeuvres and frequent stops make protection against minor knocks useful. These accessories help limit damage to the areas they cover, particularly during small mishaps while the bike is stationary.
• Handlebars: the relationship between the seat and your hands matters on a cruiser, especially when a short spin becomes an afternoon on country roads. The bars influence how far you reach and the riding position you hold throughout the journey.

XV535 Virago versions: choosing by year

The XV535 Virago has changed over the years, with versions covering 1988-1995 and 1996-2003. Screens in particular are not necessarily interchangeable between the two, so a part intended for one version should not be assumed to fit the other.
