Accessories for YAMAHA YZ65

Yamaha YZ65 accessories for motocross

The Yamaha YZ65 is a motocross bike for young riders, so its accessories need to suit practice on dirt rather than everyday road journeys. Repeated cornering drills, bumps and changes between seated and standing riding put the focus on protection, controls and suspension. For a rider developing their technique, the priority is a bike that remains comfortable to operate throughout a session. That makes parts affected by falls and the demands of the track more relevant than additions intended for commuting.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha YZ65

• Protection: practising lines and repeating exercises on loose ground means allowing for the occasional tumble. Protective parts can help limit damage to the areas they cover when the bike takes a knock. On a youth motocross bike, that is particularly relevant during sessions spent learning new techniques.
• Levers: moving around the bike while approaching corners requires consistent access to the controls. Replacing a lever damaged in a fall helps restore proper operation, rather than leaving the rider to work around a bent part. That matters when a young rider is still building confidence and coordination on the track.
• Suspension: successive bumps and jump landings make this an important area for motocross use. When considering suspension components for the YZ65, the rider’s weight, pace and usual track conditions should guide the choice. Fitting a different component is not a substitute for setting up the suspension properly for the person riding.

Brands represented in the Yamaha YZ65 accessory range include Puig and Öhlins. Even with protective parts fitted, check the controls after a fall before heading back onto the track.
