Accessories for the Yamaha YZ80

The Yamaha YZ80 is a motocross bike, so accessory choices revolve around dirt riding and track practice. Moving between seated and standing positions, setting up for corners and manoeuvring between sessions create different priorities from road riding. Protection and the controls you use throughout a session deserve attention first, while mirrors need separate consideration rather than being treated as part of a typical motocross set-up. Their usefulness depends on whether you need rearward visibility away from track riding.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha YZ80

• Protectors: Dirt riding brings a risk of scuffs and minor falls, especially when you spend time practising the same sections of a track. Protectors help shield the areas they cover. For a YZ80 used regularly for training, their purpose is to help protect the bike during practice rather than simply change its appearance.
• Levers: Braking into a corner and controlling the bike at low speed both put the focus on the connection between your fingers and the controls. Replacement levers are relevant when an existing lever has been damaged, helping keep this contact point in good condition for further sessions on dirt.
• Mirrors: These have a more limited role on a motocross bike than on a road machine. They can provide a view behind when manoeuvring between sessions. For a YZ80 prepared primarily for track practice, that is a separate requirement from the controls and protection you rely on while riding laps.

For a training-focused YZ80, distinguish between replacing a damaged control and adding protection: shielding an area does not repair damage that is already there.
