Puig side tank pads

Puig side tank pads are a pair of adhesive pads that go on the flanks of the tank, where your knees rest. They help you grip the bike with your legs under braking or in corners, and on adventure bikes when riding stood up, while protecting the paint from rubbing boots and knee armour. Each set copies the shape of the tank of one model and set of years.

The tank changes with the generation

A redesign of the bike nearly always brings a tank with different curves, and a side pad that does not follow them stands out straight away. The MT-07, for example, has three different sets, for 2014-2017, 2018-2020 and 2021-2023; the YZF-R1 splits 2015-2019 bikes from 2020-2024 ones, the YZF-R3 2015-2018 from 2019-2023, and the Fireblade has one for each generation since 2012. At other times one set fits two bikes that share a tank, such as the CB650R and CBR650R or the Ninja 650 and Z650. Before ordering, check your year in the list on the product page.

Black or clear

Almost every model is made in both finishes. Black adds contrast and hides wear; clear lets the original colour show through and is the choice for riders who only want to protect the paint. There are sets for sports bikes such as the YZF-R6, ZX-6R, Panigale or RSV4, nakeds such as the CB650R, Monster or SV650, and adventure bikes such as the R 1250 GS Adventure, Africa Twin Adventure Sports or Multistrada V4.

Getting the adhesive to bond is just a matter of degreasing the area and taking your time; the step-by-step guide is in our motorcycle tank pads section, alongside other brands. To cover the centre of the tank there are Puig tank pads, and the brand's full range sits under Puig.
