SW-MOTECH Tank Bags

The SW-MOTECH tank bags in the PRO and Legend Gear ranges run from 3 to 20 litres and include waterproof and strap-on versions. They are the bag you carry up front, in sight, so your phone, papers or wallet are within reach while you ride. Three things are worth settling before you decide: the size, how it attaches and whether it has to be waterproof.

What size do you need

• 3 to 9 litres, the essentials: PRO Micro (3-5 L), PRO Edge (5-7 L), PRO Daypack (5-8 L) and its Magnetic version (6-9 L), and the Legend Gear LT3 and LT4 (3 to 6 L).
• 7 to 14 litres, for everyday use: PRO Engage (7-10 L) and PRO City (11-14 L).
• 12 to 20 litres, for a day's ride: PRO Sport (12-17 L), PRO Trial (13-18 L), PRO GS (16-20 L) and PRO Enduro with straps (12-15 L).

Ring, magnet or straps, and water

The general explanation of how a tank bag attaches is in motorcycle backpacks and bags; what matters here is what changes within the range. The standard PRO and Legend Gear bags clip onto a bike-specific tank ring, bought separately. The magnetic ones, such as the Daypack Magnetic and the Legend Gear LT3 Magnetic, do not need one, and the strap-on versions, Enduro and Cross, attach without a ring, a common solution on off-road bikes.

If rain is the priority, look for «Waterproof» in the name: the PRO Yukon (6 L), the PRO City (9 L), the PRO Micro (4 L) and, with straps, the Enduro (11 L) and the Cross (5.5 L).

Think about the ring first: without it, a PRO bag has nothing to clip onto. The other product families are under SW-MOTECH.
