IXRACE MK2 Exhausts

The IXRACE MK2 exhaust is a very short conical silencer, 180 mm long and under a kilo, that tidies up the rear end and changes the look of a naked or sports bike at a glance. It is IXRACE's best-selling line and the one that fits the most bikes, from the MT-125 or Duke 390 to the Z H2, CBR 1000 RR-R or 1390 Super Duke R. Here you will find its three finishes and formats.

Three finishes, one silencer

Every MK2 shares the same shape and size: a cone of 90 to 100 mm in diameter, a stainless steel end cap with a race-style mesh, TIG welds, a laser-etched logo and a dB killer at both inlet and outlet. What changes is the body, and the last letters of the part number give it away:

• MK2, part number ending in S: AISI 304 stainless steel in its natural colour, the most classic finish.
• MK2B, ending in SB: the same steel in black. It is the version with the most part numbers and the one you want if you searched for "MK2 black"; it suits dark engines, frames and wheels.
• MK2C, ending in CX: a forged carbon body, with its marbled pattern, and the same steel end cap.

For the 2025 CB 1000 Hornet, for example, there are AH6205S, AH6205SB and AH6205CX: one bike, three looks. Not every model gets all three finishes; carbon is limited to bikes such as the Z 900, ZX-6R, 990 Duke, the Hornets or the Svartpilen and Vitpilen 801.

Silencer or full exhaust

A large share of the MK2 range is made up of full systems, headers included, mainly for mid-size twins and triples: MT-07, XSR 700, MT-09, XSR 900, Tracer 900, Ninja 650 and Z 650, Versys 650, CB 650 R and CBR 650 R, Trident 660, Tiger Sport 660, RS 660 or Street Scrambler 900, plus 125s such as the CB 125 R or MT-125. Many say "Full System" in the name, but not all: on the 2021 MT-07 or the R7, the MK2 also replaces the whole exhaust. Those marked "WITH CAT.", for the 2014-2020 MT-07, the XSR 700 and the Tracer 700, keep a catalytic converter inside the system. On the remaining bikes, the MK2 is a silencer that takes the place of the stock one and is held on with springs.

Road-legal or race-only, for the same bike

The MK2 range mixes part numbers with CE approval and others without it, and some bikes get both options. For the 2021-2024 MT-07 there is a full system with a catalyst and approval, AY9264, and a lighter, unapproved competition one, AY9964; the same goes for the R7 (AY9266 and AY9966) and the 2021-2023 MT-09 (AY9283 and AY9983). For the 2024 CB 650 R and CBR 650 R, the 2024 MT-09 and the 2024 XSR 900, what is on offer are competition versions. The MK2 silencers for several superbikes and high-performance nakeds are not road-approved either, such as the ZX-10R, CBR 1000 RR-R, GSX-R 1000, S 1000 RR, RSV4 or Speed Triple 1200 RS.

Common questions

Is the IXRACE MK2 the same as an "IXIL MK2"?

Lots of riders search for it that way, but the MK2 is an IXRACE line. IXIL is a different brand, with its own lines such as the RC or RB, which you will find among the IXIL exhausts.

My bike is a 2025 model: is it covered by the approval?

It depends on the part number. On the MT-07 and R7, the stated approval covers the 2021 to 2024 versions (model codes RM33 and RM34 for the MT-07, RM39 and RM40 for the R7); for 2025-2026 bikes, the manufacturer says the exhaust fits but does not confirm approval. Compare the code on the product page with the one in your bike's paperwork.

What if I want a different silencer shape?

If you like carbon but want more presence, the DCX2 has a twin silencer; for adventure bikes, the Desert uses a long hexoval one. All the brand's lines are under IXRACE, and what roadworthiness checks look at on an exhaust is explained in motorcycle exhausts.
