Motorcycle fender extenders

Mudguard extenders, often called fender extenders, lengthen the stock mudguard so the wheel stops throwing water, mud and grit where it should not. Everything in this section is made by Puig, in three types: the extender for the front mudguard, the extension for the rear one and the beak for adventure bikes. Each is designed for a specific model and years, and is added to the original part rather than replacing it.

What you want to keep clean

• Radiator and engine: this is the job of the front extender, which carries the mudguard further back behind the wheel. Small stones flung by the tyre end up flattening the radiator fins, and dirty spray coats the headers and the bottom of the engine. It is by far the type with the most models.
• Shock, number plate and pillion: these are covered by the rear extender, which lowers the edge of the mudguard hanging under the tail. It makes a difference on nakeds and sports bikes, which leave the factory with very little plastic behind the wheel. If you are after a complete rear hugger that bolts to the swingarm, you will find it under motorcycle mudguards.
• The profile of an adventure bike: the beak fits on the tip of the high front mudguard and stretches it forward. It is mostly a styling part, with some protection from spray.

Scooters and 125s

There are front extenders for maxi-scooters such as the TMAX 530, XMAX, Forza 750 or Burgman 400 and 650, for the Vespa GTS and for everyday 125s such as the MSX125 Grom, YZF-R125, XSR 125 or CB125R; several of them also have a rear extender.

Nakeds and sports bikes

This is where the rear extender is most in demand: Z900 and Z900RS, MT-07 and MT-09, Street Triple 765, Monster 937, S1000R, Z H2, RS 660, ZX-10R or the new CB1000 Hornet. At the front, the extender shields a radiator that sits very exposed on these bikes.

Adventure and touring

On adventure bikes the front extender and the beak work together: one looks after the engine on wet trails, the other completes the rally look. There are front extenders for BMW's GS models, the Africa Twin and Transalp, Ténéré 700, the Tiger range, Multistrada, Pan America, Stelvio or Himalayan 450, and beaks for the Ténéré 700, Tracer 9, Transalp, Tuareg 660 and 1290 Super Adventure.

Custom, classic and electric

You will also find them for the Rebel 500 and 1100, Sportster S, Super Meteor 650, Speed Twin, Z650RS, Moto Guzzi V85 TT and V100, and the electric Zero S, SR and SR-F.

Finish and fitting

They are designed to pass for original parts: front extenders are black, with the part number ending in N, while rear extenders and beaks are matt black, ending in J. They attach to the stock mudguard with adhesive, screws or rivets depending on the model, and each product page explains how. Degrease the area before fitting and, at the rear, check with the bike loaded that the part cannot reach the tyre. To see only the ones that suit your bike, use the bike filter above the product list.

Each type also has its own section: Puig front mudguard extenders and Puig rear extenders, with the rest of the brand under Puig.
