Puig Rear Mudguard Extension

The Puig rear mudguard extension lengthens the original mudguard so the wheel throws less water and dirt towards the back of the bike. Many nakeds, sports bikes and road-going adventure bikes leave the factory with very little mudguard behind the wheel, and this part fills the gap. That is why almost every part number is for a specific model, from the Yamaha MT-07 to the Ducati Multistrada V4, via the KTM 390 Duke, the BMW S 1000 XR or the Kawasaki Versys 1000.

What changes on the bike

On wet tarmac the tyre throws water and mud up and backwards. Without an extension, some of it ends up on the rear shock, the swingarm, the indicators and the number plate, and from there on your passenger's clothes. With one fitted, that area stays cleaner and is easier to wash. Puig makes it in ABS with a matt black finish (the J at the end of the part number), designed to look like a factory part.

Adhesive pads or rivets

It fits onto the bike's rear mudguard. The easiest option is the adhesive pads, which are included: clean and degrease the surface well before sticking. If you want a firmer hold, for example for riding on dirt tracks, the part also takes optional rivets, which mean drilling the mudguard and cannot be undone.

Before you choose

• Model and years: the part number changes with the generation. The 2012-2018 Versys 1000 and the 2019-2026 one, for example, take different extensions.
• "Several models" part numbers: some cover several Kawasaki, Ducati or KTM and Husqvarna bikes; the product page lists which.
• If you save your bike to your garage, the bar above the list tells you how many extensions fit it and lets you view only those.

If you also want to look after the front end, see the Puig front fender extensions; for similar parts, the Puig fenders, and for the rest of the brand, Puig.
