Accessories for the BMW R 1200 S

Twisting roads are a natural setting for the BMW R 1200 S, a sports bike whose accessories should reflect how you ride it. A short Sunday run puts the emphasis on controls and protection, while longer days make wind protection and carrying space more relevant. The aim is to support that road-focused use while keeping the bike's sporting appearance in mind.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 1200 S

• Screens: Faster stretches between winding roads can make wind protection a priority, particularly on a full day out. A screen's height and profile affect airflow around the rider, so your riding position matters when deciding what would suit your R 1200 S.
• Protectors: Not every mishap happens while riding. Moving a sports bike around a garage or parking during a route can also lead to a stationary drop. Protectors help limit damage to the areas they cover if the bike goes over.
• Levers: On a winding road, your fingers are regularly working the brake and clutch. Replacement levers renew these contact points, and their shape influences how you reach and operate the controls through repeated changes of gear and speed.
• Number plate holders: These offer a way to alter the plate mounting and the visual finish of the rear end. For an R 1200 S used on weekend rides, their appeal is mainly in refining its sporting look rather than adding touring practicality.
• Panniers and cases: Carrying space becomes useful when a morning ride turns into a weekend away. Luggage gives you somewhere for clothing and other travel essentials, reducing the need to carry everything in a rucksack on your back during longer road journeys.
