Accessories for the Kawasaki Z800e

City commuting and weekend rides on winding roads call for slightly different priorities on the Kawasaki Z800e. As a naked bike, it lends itself to accessories that address wind exposure, riding position and protection for exposed parts. Your everyday route is a useful starting point: regular motorway stretches put a screen higher on the list, while urban riding brings controls and crash protection into focus.

What riders usually fit to the Kawasaki Z800e

• Screens: a screen can deflect some of the airflow away from your torso on the faster roads linking your favourite bends. On the Z800e, screen height and shape matter when balancing wind protection with the uncluttered appearance of a naked bike.
• Protectors, crash bobbins and bars: worth considering for a bike used around traffic and parked in town every day. Depending on their design, these parts can help limit damage to particular areas in a stationary drop or a low-speed fall.
• Handlebars: bar height and width affect your reach to the controls and the position of your upper body. For a Z800e used for both commuting and country roads, the aim is a relaxed arm position without having to stretch your shoulders forwards.
• Levers: frequent clutch and brake use in stop-start traffic makes lever shape and finger reach particularly relevant. Out on winding roads, being able to operate the controls without shifting your hand around the grip is just as useful.
• Number plate holders: a more compact holder can give the rear of the bike a tidier appearance. This is mainly a styling choice, but it is a noticeable one on a naked model where relatively little bodywork surrounds the visible components.

When changing handlebars, levers or mirrors together, check that they have enough clearance at full steering lock in both directions. Allow space for a phone mount too if you use one for navigating through town.
