Accessories for the Yamaha XVS650 Drag Star

The Yamaha XVS650 Drag Star is a cruiser suited to unhurried road rides, weekend outings and everyday journeys. Accessories for this kind of riding are as much about your position on the bike as its appearance. The reach to the bars, your view behind and how much wind you encounter on open roads are useful starting points when planning your setup.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha XVS650 Drag Star

• Handlebars: a different bar shape can alter both the riding position and the outline of your Drag Star. For relaxed afternoons on country roads, think about where your hands will sit and how your wrists are positioned, rather than choosing purely for the custom look.
• Mirrors: these contribute to the cruiser's styling while providing a view of following traffic. If your Drag Star doubles as weekday transport, keeping a useful rearward view matters when moving between lanes in town just as much as when joining a main road.
• Screens: a screen helps deflect airflow when your route takes you beyond town. It is a worthwhile consideration for longer weekend rides on the Drag Star, particularly if you spend more time on exposed roads than making short trips between local stops.
• Protectors: these help shield the areas they cover from scuffs or minor knocks. On a Drag Star used regularly, protection is worth considering for the less glamorous parts of a ride too, such as manoeuvring into a parking space or wheeling the bike into the garage.

For mixed town and weekend use, start by considering handlebars and mirrors together. Give a screen more priority if longer stretches of open road feature regularly in your riding.
