Puig Risers

Puig risers raise the handlebar above the yoke so you ride with a straighter back and more relaxed arms, which you will notice on long trips, on adventure bikes and on any bike with low bars. Puig machines them from aluminium with an anodised finish, in black or silver, in universal versions or for a specific model.

Three families of risers

• Universal, chosen by size: you pick by height, 20 or 30 mm, and by handlebar diameter, 22, 25 or 29 mm.
• Model-specific: mostly for adventure bikes and big nakeds, such as the BMW R 1200, R 1250 and R 1300 GS, the F 750, 800 and 900 GS, the S 1000 XR, the M 1000 XR, the R 12 nineT, the Yamaha MT-09 or the Triumph Tiger 900.
• Pullback: they not only raise the bars, they bring them closer to the rider. There are universal ones in black and silver and ones for specific models too, such as the R 1300 GS, the 2024 to 2026 MT-09, the 2024 to 2026 S 1000 XR or the Voge 900 DSX.

Choosing a universal one

The key measurement is the handlebar diameter, which you can check with a calliper on the part that the clamp grips. Most road bikes use 22 mm; adventure and off-road bikes usually have a thick bar, around 29 mm, and 25 mm is common on some customs and classics. Height is a matter of taste and space: 20 mm is barely noticeable and 30 mm changes your position more, but also means checking cables and brake hoses. Also check the other measurements on the product page, and that your bike holds the bar with clamps bolted onto the yoke.

When to choose Pullback

If, as well as raising the bars, you want to bring them closer to you, Pullback risers are the answer: they shorten the reach of your arms and are common on tall adventure bikes, where you ride both seated and standing. On a sports bike, with the riding position already very far forward, raising the bars makes less sense.

After fitting

• Cables and hoses: turn the bars from lock to lock and check that none is under tension. At the 30 mm height, Puig warns that a cable may need to be lengthened.
• Tightening: respect the torque on the product page and check it again after the first few miles.
• Levers and mirrors: when the bar height changes, so does their position. Readjust the Puig mirrors and the Puig levers to recover the angle that is comfortable for you.

If you plan to change the whole handlebar, look at the Puig handlebars; and to see everything the brand makes for the riding position, go to Puig. If your bike is saved in your garage, the bar above the list will tell you how many model-specific risers fit it.
