SW-MOTECH Side Carriers for Cases and Bags

The SW-MOTECH side carriers for cases and bags are the frames that bolt to the chassis to hang luggage on each side of the bike. The brand makes them in five systems, PRO, EVO, SLC, SLH and V-LOC, and they are not ranked from better to worse: each one answers to a type of bike and a type of luggage. This guide helps you work out which one is yours before you look for your model.

Which system is yours

• PRO carriers: recent adventure and sport-touring bikes, such as the Africa Twin, Ténéré 700, R 1250 GS or V-Strom 1050. They are the ones for the TRAX ADV, DUSC and AERO ABS cases.
• EVO: the same idea for earlier generations, such as the Africa Twin XRV750, R 1100 GS, KLR 650 or Versys 650.
• SLC: nakeds, retro bikes and light machines, from the Honda CB500 and the KTM Duke to Triumph Bonnevilles and Royal Enfields.
• SLH: customs and cruisers, such as Harley-Davidson Softails, Indians or Honda Rebels, for the LH1 and LH2 saddlebags.
• V-LOC: modern retro and naked bikes with bags that guide themselves into place with a magnet, such as the Kawasaki Z900RS, Yamaha XSR900 or BMW R 12.

When your bike appears in more than one system

It happens often: the Honda CMX500 Rebel, for example, has SLC, SLH and V-LOC carriers. The luggage you want to hang decides it: custom saddlebags call for SLH, the Legend Gear and SysBag bags with a magnetic guide go on V-LOC, and SLC is the base for bags and cases of the SLC system, such as the URBAN ABS. To hang luggage from another system on a PRO, an EVO or a V-LOC carrier there are side carrier adapters.

Before you order

• Exact model and years: the product page gives them in brackets, and a change of generation usually changes the part number.
• PRO and EVO carriers are sold as a pair for both sides; SLC, SLH and V-LOC are sold per side, left or right.
• Decide the luggage first: the case or bag you like is what sets the system, not the other way round.

If your bike does not appear in any of them, ask us in the chat before assuming there is no carrier for it.
