Pelacrash

Pelacrash frame sliders are crash bungs that bolt to the frame or engine so that, if the bike goes down, it rests on them rather than on the fairing, the engine casings or the levers. Pelacrash is a brand that specialises in this kind of crash protection, with a part number for each model and set of years, always in two versions: Extreme and Factory.

Extreme or Factory: it comes down to colour

Both ranges share the bike code and only the last letter changes: Y22-E is the Extreme for the MT-07, Tracer 700 and XSR 700, and Y22-F is the Factory for the same bikes. The difference lies in how you customise the slider:

• Extreme: the slider comes in a single colour, chosen from black, grey, white, red, blue, orange and green.
• Factory: you pick the body colour and the end cap colour separately, so you can go two-tone, say a black body with a red tip on a red bike.

Since both fit exactly the same bikes, choosing between them is mostly about looks.

How to read a Pelacrash code

The code starts with the bike manufacturer and then a sequence number: Y is Yamaha, H Honda, K Kawasaki, S Suzuki, B BMW, A Aprilia, D Ducati and TR Triumph; KTM appears by name, and the newer brands get two letters, such as VO for VOGE, CF for CFMOTO, KO for KOVE or ZO for Zontes. The number does not tell you the generation, so go by the model and years in the product name: the GSX-R 600/750, for instance, has separate codes for 1996-2000, 2000-2003, 2004-2005, 2006-2007, 2008-2010 and 2011 onwards.

From nineties sports bikes to today's nakeds

Coverage is what sets the brand apart. It reaches nineties machines such as the EXUP, the first R1 or the CBR 600 F, long-running nakeds like the Bandit or Fazer FZ6, and today's best sellers, such as the MT-07, Z900, CB 500, CB 650 R, S 1000 RR or the 2024 ZX-6R. There are also part numbers for 125s and A2 licence bikes like the CB 125 R, Duke 125 or Z 125, and for brands that have grown fast in recent years: VOGE, CFMOTO, KOVE, Zontes and Benelli. Unfaired Ducatis share a single code.

How they are designed

Pelacrash shapes each slider so it stays within the width of the handlebar and never touches the ground before the footpegs: the bike keeps its original width and the slider does not limit your lean angle. They are made from flexible nylon that deforms on impact instead of snapping. They attach to external frame mounting points or to a model-specific bracket, supplied whenever the bike needs one, with no changes to the bike's structure. Each product page lists the models and years it fits.

What a frame slider does not cover

A slider protects the side of the bike, but not the fork legs or the swingarm: that is the job of the Puig fork and swingarm sliders. If you ride an adventure bike and want to shield more of the engine, look at crash bars instead, and for a different look there are the Puig frame sliders. What a slider protects and how to fit one, whatever the brand, is covered in our frame sliders and engine protection section; every other manufacturer is listed under brands.
