Short cuff motorcycle gloves

Short cuff motorcycle gloves end at the wrist: they do not run up the forearm and are worn inside the sleeve of your jacket. They are the quickest to put on and the ones that look best with everyday clothes, and here you have them from Rainers and By City, for summer and for winter, for men, for women and unisex.

Where each glove ends

• Short: finishes at the wrist or just above it, leaving your hand completely free to move.
• Mid: covers the start of the forearm, a middle ground for road riding.
• Long, or gauntlet: reaches halfway up the sleeve and closes over the jacket, as on track gloves and many winter ones.

Wearing them with a jacket

A short glove always goes under the jacket cuff: fasten it at the wrist first, then tighten the sleeve over the top. That way, in the rain, water running down your arm slides off the outside of the glove instead of finding its way in. What really matters on a short glove is that wrist closure: if it is loose, the glove can come off in a crash, exactly when you need it most.

Summer, winter and style

For summer, the Rainers Road, G-28, Sirocco, Delta or Xena (women's) and the By City Moscow leave your wrist free and well ventilated. There are short cuffs for the cold too: the Rainers Everest, Hot, Aspen, Polar or the winter version of the Road, and the By City Artic and Elegant. If you are after leather with a classic feel, By City's Second Skin, Texas, Tokio and Elegant also sit among the retro and cafe racer gloves, and for riding around town every day, several of them reappear among the scooter gloves. On the motorway in cold weather, though, a gauntlet does a better job of stopping air getting up your sleeve; you will find those in the main motorcycle gloves section.
